Indoor kennels
We have 9 large indoor kennel stalls. We chose to build NPLH so that our guest dogs can receive the attention they deserve without the crowding and warehousing conditions so common in many kennels. Our indoor kennel stalls are typically used by your dogs as a cozy place to sleep and in some cases as a means of isolation from other dogs when incompatibilities may exist. Kennel stalls have a raised platform over the waste drainage system assuring that your dogs do not have to cope with any accidents they may have. Because many of our clients have multiple dogs, we designed the larger indoor kennel stalls to comfortably accommodate 2-3 large dogs if they like to sleep together. We use PetCots as beds in the stall since they are rugged and are very easily cleaned and sanitized between guests. Our indoor kennel stalls also have gates that allow us to open them so your dogs can have access to the covered outside runs. The inside area of the kennel is climate controlled so your dogs will always be comfortable.
Outdoor covered kennel runs
Our covered exterior runs are attached to the inside kennel stalls with a door that we control. Your dogs can come and go when the door is opened and have a choice where they want to stay. The covered runs allow dogs to stay outside in the afternoons and still be cool and in the shade. When it rains, the roof allows dogs to go outside but not get wet. The exterior runs are made by a manufacturer that supplies enclosures for zoos and are heavy enough to prevent dogs in adjacent runs from fence fighting and injuring each other.
One acre fenced exercise area
When we built the kennel we knew that dog guests truly enjoy the opportunity to run and interact with other dogs. Since we have 4 dogs of our own, we know the the value of a full time exercise area. We have provided a securely fenced 1 acre play area that allows our guest dogs to play with each other and also relieve themselves when they need - not just during supervised walks. The exterior kennel runs open into the exercise yard and, for those dogs that are allowed to interact with each other, it provides a means for your dogs to choose what they do during the day and relax where they desire -- whether in the exercise yard, outside run or in the climate controlled inside stall.
Kennel is in the middle of our 50 acre farm
No Place Like Home kennel is located in the middle of our farm of 50 acres. We raise hay and keep our four horses, five dogs and dozen cats here. We found that the dogs love to be taken on long walks around the farm and experience the natural enjoyment of running in a pack with other dogs while exploring the fields and running free. We have two golf carts and most of the dogs enjoy running alongside a cart and jumping aboard from time to time. Our farm is totally enclosed by fence which eliminates any issues with dogs that stray from the pack. This long run feature of our kennel is unique to our facility.
One acre pond with diving dock
Some time ago we constructed a pond on our farm. While it was built for aesthetics and a place to fish, we found that our dogs love to run around it and jump in and swim. Since this was the case we decided to keep the pond exceptionally clean and the shoreline free of weeds and plant growth. Almost all of our dog guests become as excited as our own dogs when they get an opportunity to visit the pond. At times we have had a dozen dogs running around the pond, jumping in, swimming and chasing balls in the water. Generally the pond is clear enough that the dogs do not require bathing after a swim but we can provide an optional bath if you desire. The pond is a highlight for many dogs that stay with us.
Indoor play areas for small and large dogs
The inside play areas for both our small dogs and large ones are spaces that we use when the weather is not good and being outside for exercise is not comfortable for them. The areas are gated so the little guys do not have to mingle with the big dogs. There are toys, obstacles, agility equipment and beds in these rooms and the dogs can play up a storm with each other. The rooms are climate controlled and kept clean and sanitary.
Extras
In addition to these features of NPLH kennel, we offer several extras for our guests. Bathing is available for your dog which includes a tub bath, ear cleaning, drying, brush out and doggie perfume. Nail clipping is also available.
We are unique in this area
Our kennel is not a dog warehouse. We feel that your dogs deserve a quality environment when you are away. We have endeavored to create a place that is as comfortable and interesting as possible to allow our guest dogs to feel at home, or better yet, at doggie summer camp. If you do not feel comfortable letting your dogs have the freedom to play, swim and interact with other dogs then NPLH may not be right for you.
